Therapy can be open ended or we can agree the number of sessions in advance
The sessions will involve talk therapy, and may incorporate dream analysis, energy psychotherapy, visualisation or relaxation techniques, depending on what you want and need. If you are comfortable doing so, you may at certain points in a session hold or tap particular points on your body as you speak, tense then release parts of the body, or I may apply gentle pressure to your wrist.
If you see me as a couple we may also use some of these techniques at various times, but generally I will follow the EFT (Emotionally Focussed Therapy) structured approach, which is based on the science of adult attachment and bonding. Sessions are usually weekly for 60 min
At the first session we will talk through a counselling agreement so that you understand how the therapy will work, including the number of sessions, scheduled reviews, fees, cancellations, the code of ethics and confidentiality that will apply.
All sessions are strictly confidential
Some people have concerns about starting therapy in a small community, and it’s important to know that your privacy will be protected – please ask me about the steps I take to ensure that our meetings will be confidential.
