Hi, I’m Anne

Counselling Therapist

I am an integrative counselling therapist based in the beautiful Far North of New Zealand.

I offer traditional ‘talk therapy’, including dream analysis, integrated with energy psychology and relaxation techniques, to enhance wellbeing.

I work with individuals and couples who are experiencing some of the issues shown below, though many people also do not have words for what’s happening. Therapy helps them through these difficult times. The aim is to find, or rediscover, joy – to get more of what you truly want and bring more of what you love into your life.

We Can Work Through

anxiety and stress

relationship issues

mood swings

sleep troubles

sexual issues

post illness or addiction

loss of meaning/purpose

not feeling anything

loneliness or hopelessness

‘I’m not good enough’

‘I can’t do it’

‘who I am is not me’

loss and change

fears or confusion

trauma or PTSD

abuse

assaults and accidents

mystery pain/symptoms

My Approach & Values

It’s true that many of the difficulties above, which bring us to counselling, link to events from our past. However the focus in sessions is very much on working with what is happening for you now. We will work with the situations, symptoms and feelings, which are getting in the way and/or affecting your life.

You will come to make sense of, and move through, what is happening for you. Sometimes past events will come up, but always you and your own inner wisdom are the best guide for where we should start, and what we explore together through therapy. You will come to listen to and trust this in yourself, if you don’t already.

My therapeutic style is caring and supportive, yet practical and grounded. I practise with a high level of integrity and confidentiality and give special attention to protecting this now that I am working in a small community.

“We all have the capacity to overcome our difficult issues and to change the patterns that don’t serve us well. A therapist’s role is to help clients find the resources within themselves to do this, and to find joy again.”
